To protect themselves, workers can:
1. Engage in lifelong learning and retraining.
2. Get their union leadership to be further involved in tripartite negotiations (unions, employers, government) so that all developments are taken into consideration as they actually develop.
3. Advocate for worker-friendly policies through unions and social dialogue platforms so that the novel ways expected by employers are introduced to them early on. In this way, their employment is relatively more secure.
